Carcabuey

Located deep in thee Cordoba province this beautiful white washed village has under 3000 inhabitants and sits around the raised castle which was built in Medieval times.The castle houses  the hermitage of the Virgen of María Santísima del Castillo de Carcabuey. Inside there is lots of  paraphernalia hanging about on the walls, crutches and other items that have been cast off by those who no longer need them. The virgin is believed to have performed numerous miracles and she is revered by the local community
